This article provides definitions for different terms and acronyms used by GFI WebMonitor customers and support agents.

Content Delivery Network (CDN) | A network used to distribute or deliver content across the web made of several dedicated servers, which work as distributed hosts of the content, especially for static files, e.g., videos, Java scripts, CSS files, etc. |
End-Of-Life Product (EOL) | A product at EOL stage is a product at the end of the product lifecycle which prevents users from receiving updates, indicating that the product is at the end of its useful life (from the vendor's point of view). At this stage, a vendor stops the marketing, selling, or provision of parts, services, or software updates for the product. |
Proxy Auto-Configuration (PAC) | A Proxy Auto-Configuration (PAC) file is a JavaScript function definition that determines whether web browser requests (HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP) go directly to the intended destination or are forwarded to a web proxy server. |
Proc folder | A folder that stores downloaded web content that is scanned and cached by WebMonitor |
Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Protocol (WPAD) | The Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Protocol is a method used by clients to locate the URL of a configuration file using DHCP and/or DNS discovery methods. Once detection and download of the configuration file is complete, it can be executed to determine the proxy for a specified URL. |
