GFI WebMonitor 10 installation fails with a "An older version of GFI WebMonitor 10 is already installed" popup

PROBLEM

GFI WebMonitor 10 installation fails with a popup stating: 

An older version of GFI WebMonitor 10 is already installed, upgrade from this version is not supported.  Please contact support for further instructions.


ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI WebMonitor
  • All supported environments


SOLUTION

Install and intermediate version of GFI WebMonitor before installing GFI WebMonitor 10.


CAUSE

GFI WebMonitor can not upgrade from versions older than 2012 SR1 (build 20130910).  Upgrading to at least the 2013 version as this has the widest compatibility with older version of GFI WebMonitor.
