Answer
Upgrade to 2013 - Standalone Proxy Version: (possible reboot required - see below)
- Check to see which version / build you are currently on. This is important if you want to transfer your user browsing history to the new database.
- Create a new key in the GFI Customer Area using the Upgrade Key Procedure.
- Backup your configuration per the following article: http://kb.gfi.com/articles/SkyNet_Article/KBID003680
- Download the new version from our website: http://cdndl.gfi.com/gfiwebmonitor2013_net.exe
- Run the installer. It does the following:
- Install the prerequisites listed below (some may require a reboot). If a reboot is required, you will have the option to reboot at a later time and continue the installation by rerunning the installer.
- Uninstall the current version, leaving behind your configuration files, quarantine, webgrade database, etc.
- Install the new build in the same installation directory
- Transfer your user browsing history data. By default, the installation will not transfer your user browsing history data to the new database (SQL or Firebird) that is used for BOTH viewing in the user interface / console AND for reporting. See the following articles:

How to transfer user browsing history data to the new backend database
Prerequisites:
The installer first checks for and installs the following prerequisites. If these are missing, they will be automatically downloaded and installed when you select OK.
- MS Message Queuing (MSMQ)
- MS .Net framework 4.0
- MS .NET Framework Hotfix KB-2183292
- MS Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable
- MS IIS Express
- MS Report Viewer
Familiarize yourself with the new features. It is recommend that you download the GFI WebMonitor 2013 user manual for further information on these changes: http://www.gfi.com/internet-monitoring-software/manual
Additional Notes (If upgrading from WebMonitor 2009):
- Caching can be enabled or disabled in the Proxy Settings page (it is disabled by default). You can also specify the location for the cache
- New Web Filtering policies that can restrict users browsing based on bandwidth / or browsing time - under the Webfilter section.
- HTTPS inspection - you can now control HTTPS traffic (see the proxy settings page).
- Consolidated Firebird database that allows you to browse user history by date range.
- Reporting data is now transferred to the SQL Server in realtime rather than once a day.
