Overview
This article explains the reason why the Surf Time is not displayed for both Categories and Websites, or if shown, it is listed as '0 min.'
This behavior is by design, and it was implemented in GFI Webmonitor 2012. This is further explained in the section below.
Environment
GFI WebMonitor 2012
Information
One of the improvements in GFI WebMonitor 2012 is that the Surf Time calculations are much more accurate. However, because the calculations involved are very time-consuming CPU and Disk usage is intensive and could cause the display to take a long time to return the results. Based on this, we have limited the results to only Users, not Categories or Websites. As a consequence, you will notice the following differences between WebMonitor 2011 and WebMonitor 2012:
- When viewing Surf Time in the Dashboard > Activity Monitoring screens and reports, Surf Time is only available for Users, not for Websites or Categories.
- The Dashboard > Activity Monitoring screen in the WebMonitor Console displays '0 mins' for the Surf Time for all users when Today is selected as the date range; this is because Surf Time is calculated only on a daily basis, and is comprised at 11:00 PM (23:00) daily.
- The Surf Time totals for other date ranges do not include the current day.
