Overview
This article provides relevant information regarding the types of Generic Site Streams that can be blocked using GFI WebMonitor.
Information
Generic Site Streams is a feature within GFI WebMonitor that prevents websites from delivering multi-media content on demand, e.g., video, presentations, podcasts, and Internet radio. Users are still able to access the site, but they will not be able to play the digital content embedded therein. Examples of websites that deliver this type of content include YouTube, Tudou, MegaVideo, IceCase, ShoutCast, Vimeo, and MetaCafe.
Constant automatic updates ensure that GFI WebMonitor can block any new formats released. To add a policy that blocks Generic Site Streams:
- Navigate to Settings > Policies > Internet Policies.
- In the Streaming Media Policies area, click Add Policy.
- In the Filter area, locate Generic Site Streams and click Block.
- Finish configuring the rest of the policy as you see fit, then click Save.
Note: Some of the rules require HTTPS Scanning to be enabled to work correctly.
