Overview
This article addresses the question of when are computer accounts (ComputerName$) counted towards the license.
Information
ComputerName$ are counted towards the license by GFI WebMonitor when no other connection by an authenticated user is made from the same machine:
- If a computer with no logged in user establishes a connection using the machine$ account, machine$ will take one license.
- If late, a user logs in to the same machine, and access the Internet, the user account will take a license, but machine$ will no longer be counted.
Connections done by ComputerName$ accounts can be created by applications or services using the LocalSystem account and connecting to the Internet to check and download product updates, e.g., Windows Updates.
Note: Refer to Excluding Users from Counting Against My License for ways to exclude these accounts from counting towards GFI WebMonitor's license.
